Women's Soccer Travels to Miami and No. 3 Florida State

MIAMI—The Pitt women’s soccer team will travel to the state of Florida this weekend to play two ACC regular season matches against Miami (Thursday, Oct. 10) and No. 3 ranked Florida State (Sunday, Oct. 13). Kickoff for tonight’s Miami match is at 7 p.m., while Sunday’s match at Florida State begins at 1 p.m.

Pitt (4-8-1, 0-7-0 ACC) has six more regular season games remaining. Junior goalkeeper Nicole D’Agostino leads ACC keepers in two categories: saves (77) and saves per game (5.92 spg). She also ranks among league leaders in shutouts, save percentage and shutouts per game. Pitt sophomore Roosa Arvas ranks 16th in the ACC in shots (34).

Miami (7-4-0, 2-4-0 ACC) is coming off a 2-0 Oct. 6 win over No. 3 ranked Notre Dame. The Hurricanes are led by Ashley Flinn (16 points/eight goals) and Jasmine Paterson (eight points/three goals/two assists).

No. 3 ranked Florida State (10-0-3, 5-0-2 ACC) plays at Syracuse on Thursday. Florida State opens its weekend with an undefeated record after having won five of its last six games. The Seminoles have outscored their opponents 24-7 and have only given up seven goals on the year. Three offensive players have registered over 10 points for FSU including Berglind Thorvaldsdottir (six goals/14 points), Dagny Byrnjarsdottir (four goals/11 points) and Jamia Fields (three goals/10 points). Goalkeeper Kelsey Wys has an ACC-leading eight shutouts. Florida State has been ranked among the nation’s top-10 all season long. The Seminoles were picked to finish second in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind defending national champion North Carolina.

The Panthers have just one more home game remaining when they host Virginia Tech on Senior Day, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20. Pitt will honor its six seniors in a pre-match ceremony. Those six seniors are Nicole D’Agostino, Dana DelleFemine, Caroline Keefer, Katie Lippert, Alyssa Meier and Morgan Sharick.
