LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host a pair of American Athletic Conference matches this weekend with USF and UCF. The Cardinals will face USF on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. and UCF on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park.
Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-3-1 and a league record of 4-0-0. Last weekend the Cards defeated SMU 4-2 on Thursday then defeated Houston 1-0 on Sunday. Senior Charlyn Corral leads the team with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points. Corral's goal total is tied for first in the conference, while her 27 points are the top of the league. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with six goals and eight assists for 20 points. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has started all 12 games for the Cardinals, earning a 1.63 goals against average. Brown also has three shutouts and 39 saves on the year.
USF enters this weekend with a 7-2-3 overall record and a 2-1-0 league record. The Bulls are coming off a 2-0 weekend with conference wins over Temple (1-0) and UConn (3-2). Junior midfielder Cristin Granados was the hero in both games, scoring the only goal of the match against Temple and tallying her third goal of the season with 52 seconds remaining in double overtime against UConn. Sharla Passariello leads the team in scoring with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Christiane Endler was also named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday after posting her fourth shutout this season against Temple. She leads the team with a 0.69 goals against average and 49 saves.
USF hold a slight 8-7-2 edge in the series over the Cardinals. In the last meeting on Oct. 28, 2012, both teams finished in a scoreless tie. USF advanced in the BIG EAST Tournament 4-3 on penalty kicks.
UCF enters the weekend with an overall record of 10-2-1 and a league record of 4-0-0. The Knights are currently ranked 19th by Soccer America and 21st by the NSCAA Coaches Poll. Last weekend UCF defeated UConn 4-1 and Temple 4-1 to wrap up a four game home stand. Tatiana Coleman leads the team in scoring with eight goals and two assists for 18 points. Lena Petermann ranks second with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Lianne Maldonado leads the Knights in goal with a 0.70 goals against average. She also has 32 saves on the year and three shutouts.
Sunday's match will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Friday night is the Pink Out game. They will be collecting $2 donations in which you can buy a balloon and write a message on then will be tied up around the field. All fans are encouraged to wear pink. It is also Youth Soccer Night. Anyone wearing a team jersey will receive free admission. Friday night is also CAF appreciation night.
Sunday is Senior Day.
