BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Taylor Madigan, Marquette, MF/F, Sr. – Madigan scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another tally in Marquette’s 4-0 victory over Georgetown. It was her fifth goal of the season. The victory put the Golden Eagles atop the BIG EAST standings with a 5-0-0 mark.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

Emily Jacobson, Marquette, D Sr. – Jacobson led the Marquette backline that gave up just four shots on goal in a 4-0 win over Georgetown that ended the Hoyas’ 13-game unbeaten streak. Georgetown went into the game averaging 3.3 goals per contest. It was Marquette’s only game of the week.

BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week

Amanda Engel, Marquette, GK, So. – Engel continues to be a critical component of the Marquette success. She recorded four saves in a 4-0 victory over Georgetown. Engel has posted shutouts in four of her last six contests. The Golden Eagles have won seven games in a row.

BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

Ellie Eckerle, Xavier, F, Fr.– Eckerle contributed to both goals in a 2-1 decision over Seton Hall in the Musketeers’ only game of the week. She scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner. Eckerle had not scored in 13 previous games. The win was Xavier’s first in BIG EAST women’s soccer.

BIG EAST Honor Roll

Sophia Maccagnone, Butler, MF, Jr.
Scored her second game-winning goal of the season in a 2-1 overtime victory against Providence. Leads the team with eight goals.

Madelyn Buckner, Creighton, MF, Jr.
Scored the Bluejays’ only goal in a 2-1 loss against DePaul.

Amber Paul, DePaul, MF, Jr.
Made her first goal of the season a golden goal in a 2-1 overtime victory at Creighton which gave the Blue Demons a three-game winning streak.


 

 

Rachel Daly, St. John’s, F, So.
Scored the only goal in a 1-1 draw against Villanova. It was her league-leading 15th goal of the season.

Hayley Wilson, Villanova, MF, So.
Tallied the game-tying goal in a 1-1 tie against St. John’s. The goal came off a free kick and was her first of the season.
