The University of Louisville women's soccer team will wrap up the regular season on the road against Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals are currently atop the American Athletic Conference polls with a 7-1-0 record while Cincinnati is tied for third with a 4-3-1 record.
This past weekend, the Cardinals won a pair of conference road games against Temple and UConn. Louisville, now 11-4-1 overall, defeated Temple 3-1 on Thursday and UConn 3-2 on Sunday. Senior Charlyn Corral scored the game winning goal against the Huskies. Corral leads the team with 13 goals and eight assists for 34 points. Corral's goal total ranks first in the conference, along with her 34 points. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with eight goals and nine assists for 25 points. Exeter ranks second in the league in scoring and ranks third in assists. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has started all 16 games for the Cardinals, earning a 1.47 goals against average. Brown also has four shutouts and 57 saves on the year.
Cincinnati enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-9-1. Last weekend Cincinnati defeated Temple and fell to UConn in overtime. Jae Atkinson leads the team in scoring with four goals and five assists for 13 points. Emily Elsbrock ranks second on the team with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Natalie Smith leads the Bearcats between the posts with a 1.25 goals against average. Smith has two shutouts on the year and 66 saves.
Cincinnati leads the series 17-10-1 against the Cardinals. Louisville has won four of the last five matches, including a 2-1 double overtime win last season.
