MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Louisville knocked off Notre Dame 2-1 in the semifinals of the BIG EAST women's soccer championship on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals scored a pair of goals in the opening minutes of the contest and held off a late ND charge for the win.
Sophomore Christine Exeter, the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, tallied the first score just 2:27 into the contest.
Sophomore Jordan Pawlik and senior Katie McDonald each picked up an assist on the play.
McDonald followed a few minutes later with a score of her own as she knocked home a throw-in from the corner.
With the win, Louisville makes its first appearance in the title game of the BIG EAST Championship. The loss moved Notre Dame to 36-4-1 during BIG EAST Championship play.
