The Marquette University women's soccer team defeated the DePaul Blue Demons 2-0 to claim their second BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship in as many years.

After a scoreless first half, senior Taylor Madigan and sophomore Ann Marie Lynch came through for the Golden Eagles to give them a lead that would not be squandered. The tie was broken in the 58th minute when Madigan found a feed from fellow senior Katie Hishmeh. Madigan took a touch and fired a shot from about 12 yards out that hit the near post before trickling in.

Madigan also scored the game-winner at last year's BIG EAST women's soccer championship, as her tally went on to be the difference in a 1-0 victory over Georgetown.

Marquette's lead was doubled when Lynch found a through ball from Liz Bartels at the 67:25 mark. DePaul's keeper Alex Godinez initially made the save, but Lynch's shot proved too powerful as it hit the near post before crossing the goal line.

Godinez was challenged throughout the match, as she picked up 13 saves on the day.

The Golden Eagles tallied offensive pressure was prevalent throughout the match, as the recorded 36 shots for the match, including a 16-to-1 advantage in shots on goal.
