Women's Soccer - NCAA First Round Recap

Marquette and Louisville advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Championship following wins over the weekend. The Golden Eagles (18-3-0) beat Toledo 1-0 in overtime, while the Cardinals (13-6-3) topped Dayton 2-0. Notre Dame and West Virginia were each eliminated. West Virginia lost at home to Virginia Tech 1-0, while Notre Dame lost at Illinois 1-0.

Marquette sophomore Taylor Madigan's golden goal was scored in the 97th minute. The Golden Eagles advance to the second round of the NCAA Championship where they will play No. 4 seed Penn State on Friday, Nov. 18 at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., at 5 p.m. ET.

In Louisville, Ky., goals from senior Kaitie McDonald and sophomore Angelika Uremovich and another strong performance from senior goalkeeper Chloe Kiefer, Louisville earned its first NCAA Championship win.
 

With the victory, the Cardinals advanced to a second round matchup against No. 4 seed Memphis on Friday, Nov. 18, at 8:30 p.m., ET at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tenn.
