PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rutgers senior outfielder Brittney Lindley was as the selected BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week and Georgetown freshman Megan Hyson was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week after the second week of action.
Lindley batted .714 with a 2.000 slugging percentage and a .727 on base percentage in three games at the CenturyLink Classic in San Marcos, Texas. The senior registered three home runs, seven RBI, five hits and four runs in seven plate appearances. In an 8-0 victory over Dayton, Lindley blasted her first grand slam of the season and hit a sacrifice fly to bring in five of the team's eight runs. In two games against Texas State, she went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs, two RBI, two walks and two stolen bases.
Hyson pitched her first career no-hitter and had 11 strikeouts in a win against Howard. In 13 total innings pitched spanning two games, she struck out 22 batters, while only allowing five hits, two runs and two walks. The freshman produced a weekend ERA of 1.38 as Georgetown added three wins and no losses to its record.
