Lid Lifters
Providence will make its long-awaited debut this weekend when the Friars travel to the George Washington Classic in Washington, D.C. PC is the lone BIG EAST team that has yet to play a game after its scheduled trip to Boca Raton, Fla., two weeks ago was derailed due to snow. Providence was picked to finish tied for third with Georgetown in the preseason poll which was announced in January. The Friars went 23-28-1 a season ago.

Dazzling Debut
Villanova made its season debut last weekend at the FGCU Tournament, earning a 3-2 record. The Wildcats defeated Harvard in their season opener before collecting wins over Florida Gulf Coast and North Dakota. Kate Poppe was credited with all three wins in the circle, pitching to a 1.99 ERA, while Chase Snell batted .475 with a trio of RBI.
