Rutgers and Syracuse Split BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honors

 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rutgers and Syracuse share this week's BIG EAST softball weekly awards as RU senior Mandy Craig was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, while SU junior Jenna Caira earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors.   

 

Craig led the Scarlet Knights to a 4-1 mark this week. She totaled a .667 (10-for-15) batting average, .737 OBP and slugged at a 1.467 clip. The first baseman recorded four doubles, one triple and blasted two home runs, while reaching on walks four times. Craig scored five runs and drove in five RBI with one stolen base. 

 

Caira went 2-1 in the circle last week with one save for the Orange, who posted a 4-1 record. The lone loss of the week came to No. 3/2 Florida, where the righty gave up just two earned runs. She allowed only two runs in three complete game efforts. She sat down 26 batters over 23 innings pitched, recording a 0.78 ERA. In Caira's four appearances this week, Syracuse outscored its opponents 13-2.
