Louisville and USF Claim Softball Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior catcher Maggie Ruckenbrod of Louisville was selected BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week and senior Lindsey Richardson of USF was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week in the sixth weekly awards of the 2013 campaign. 

 

Ruckenbrod helped No. 11/11 Louisville to a 3-0 week. The junior batted .500 (5-for-10) with two home runs, one double, three runs and five RBI. She posted a 1.200 slugging percentage and .583 on-base percentage. Ruckenbrod hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Cardinals to a 4-2 win against No. 24/24 North Carolina.

 

Richardson went 3-0 with a save and did not allow a run during the Bull's 7-0 week. She pitched three complete game shutouts and allowed just seven hits in 19.1 innings pitched. The junior threw her second no-hitter of the season in an 11-0 win in five innings against Maine.

 

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Kim Silva, UConn, Sr., OF

Batted .615 (8-for-13) with six doubles, a 1.308 slugging percentage and .615 on-base percentage in a 2-2 week.

Elyse Graziano, Georgetown, Jr., CF

Hit .667 (10-for-15) with four runs scored and recorded a .667 on-base percentage.

Katey Haus, Notre Dame, So., 3B

Went 9-for-19 (.474) with a .737 slugging percentage in a 5-1 week. Hit a walk-off single in a 3-2 win against Northern Illinois.

Laura Winter, Notre Dame, Jr., P

Went 3-1 with a 0.48 ERA in 29.0 innings pitched. Walked one batter and struck out 25.

Kourtney Salvarola, USF, Jr., SS

Batted .563 (9-for-16) with 10 RBI, two home runs (one grand slam), two doubles and five runs scored in a 7-0 week.
