PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Connecticut senior first baseman/outfielder Amy Vaughan was selected as the BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week and USF sophomore Sara Nevins was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week after the sixth week of action.
Vaughan had 12 RBI, nine hits, scored seven runs and blasted five home runs in six games for UConn. She hit two home runs in the Huskies' second game against Cal State Bakersfield, including a grand slam. The grand slam was one of two that Connecticut hit in the fifth inning, trying the NCAA record for grand slams hit in one inning. Overall, Vaughan hit .529 with a slugging percentage of 1.471.
Nevins appeared in six games, collecting four wins and a save for the Bulls. She tossed 27.1 innings without allowing an earned run, extending her streak to 60.2 innings. The sophomore struck out 47 batters while only surrendering five walks, giving her a strikeouts-per-seven-innings ratio of 12.04 for USF's six games last week. This marks the third time this season Nevins has earned the weekly honor and the second week in a row.

Wolny batted .571 with two home runs, two doubles, eight RBI and three runs scored in four wins for the Cardinals.

Haus had seven hits, three RBI and two runs scored for the Irish while batting .500 in a 3-2 week.
Brittney Lindley, Rutgers, Sr., INF
Lindley batted .500 with eight hits, four RBI, three doubles, three walks and three stolen bases for RU.
Jenna Caira, Syracuse, Sr., P
Caira struck out 30 batters in 23.0 innings and allowed only one earned run for an ERA of 0.30 in five appearances for the Orange.
Kristi Burlin, Villanova, Sr., 3B
Burlin collected six hits, five RBI and scored four runs while hitting two doubles and a home run.
