PROVIDENCE, R.I. - USF and Louisville share this week's BIG EAST softball weekly awards as USF freshman Stephanie Medina was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, while UofL junior Tori Collins earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors. This is the second weekly honor for both Medina and Collins, who won their previous awards Feb. 28.
Medina continued to be an offensive threat for the Bulls last week. The freshman slugger hit a whopping .818 in five games, going 9-for-11 from the plate with three doubles, a home run and 10 RBI. The first baseman scored three runs and walked three times and also got hit by a pitch twice. Her slugging percentage was 1.364, while her on-base percentage was .824. Medina recorded five RBI off of a home run and a double against No. 18/20 Oklahoma State March 20.
Collins posted a 3-0 record with one save and a 0.59 ERA for the Cardinals in five appearances on the week. The lefty allowed just two earned runs on 12 hits, striking out 24 in 23.2 innings of work. Collins limited opponents to a .150 batting average.
