PROVIDENCE, R.I. - USF sophomore first baseman Stephanie Medina was selected as the BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week and USF sophomore Sara Nevins was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week after the seventh week of action.
Medina batted .462 with a .533 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage in five wins for USF. She hit safely in every game with six hits and eight RBI on 13 at bats. The sophomore also recorded a double, two home runs and two walks on the week. In three conference victories against Rutgers, Medina had four hits, six RBI, a home run and a double.
Nevins appeared in four of the team's five games, earning three wins while tossing 19.2 innings. She allowed just one run for an ERA of 0.36. Nevins scattered 12 hits and struck out 22 batters to average 7.8 strikeouts per seven innings. In three games against Rutgers, she did not allow a run and struck out 15. Nevins leads the league in nine statistical categories, including ERA (0.64), innings pitched (130.1) and strikeouts (167). This marks the fourth time this season Nevins has earned the weekly honor and the third week in a row.

Kiki Saveriano, Connecticut, Jr., P
Saveriano pitched 17.1 innings while only allowing two earned runs and striking out 14 for a 0.81 ERA.
Kirsten Verdun, DePaul, So., P/1B
Verdun hit two home runs (including a grand slam) and had seven RBI in four games against No. 1/1 Alabama and Longwood.
Tori Collins, Louisville, Sr., P
Collins recorded two wins and a save, while only allowing one earned run and striking out eight for a 0.58 ERA.
Jordan Trimble, Louisville, So., CF
Trimble batted .429 with six hits, two doubles, three runs scored and five RBI in five wins for the Cards.
Chrissy Montez, St. John's, Jr., SS
Montez had nine hits and 10 RBI in 22 at bats. She blasted a walk-off grand slam in the 11th inning of a game against Manhattan.
