Only one BIG EAST team remains undefeated in league play, Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish swept its doubleheader against previously undefeated Georgetown 8-2 and 15-3. The first win of the day marked Notre Dame's 1,000th win in program history and improved its record to 1,001-446-3 since its inception in 1989.
USF is 7-1 in the BIG EAST and 29-11 overall after its sweep of St. John's. The Bulls won 4-0 and 5-2 and have won six straight, the longest current winning streak in the league.
DePaul joined USF at 7-1 in league play and improved its overall record to 20-13 after sweeping Seton Hall. The Blue Demons handled the Pirates 5-4 and 18-5 in five innings. Junior Hannah Penna drove in six runs in the nightcap with a 4-for-4 performance from the plate. She also pitched four innings in the circle and earned the win.
No. 11/11 Louisville defeated No. 20/21 Kentucky 5-1 last night in a sold out crowd (1,415) at Ulmer Stadium. The Cardinals improved to 5-2 against Top 25 teams this season.
Connecticut tallied 15 hits in an 11-8 win at Boston University. The Huskies were lead by senior Marissa Guches and sophomore Lauren Duggan as the pair combined for eight hits and eight RBI.
Rutgers split a nonconference doubleheader at Hofstra. The Scarlet Knights claimed a 1-0 Game 1 win in eight innings but lost the nightcap 6-5. Sophomore Alyssa Landrith tossed one of her best games in a Rutgers jersey, allowing just two hits in eight innings of yesterday's opener.
Pittsburgh was swept in its nonconference doubledip against Robert Morris. They lost 4-0 and 6-1.
One BIG EAST team is scheduled to play Thursday, Syracuse. They will travel to Binghamton for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
