Tuesday night featured one BIG EAST doubleheader and two nonconference games.
No. 10/11 Louisville swept host Providence 16-2 and 17-6. The Cardinals scored in every inning of the twinbill and the 17 runs in Game Two were a season-high. Junior Katie Keller highlighted the individual performances for Louisville with a school record tying seven RBI in Game One.
DePaul's last-inning rally fell short against Illinois State in a 5-4 loss. The Blue Demons trailed 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh and tallied two straight runs before a pop up ended the game. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak.
Notre Dame lost a nonconference game to Northwestern 11-3. The Fighting Irish led 3-2 in the fifth before Northwestern tallied nine runs in the bottom half of the inning to claim the win.
There are 12 games on Wednesday's slate. DePaul, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, USF, St. John's and Syracuse are all scheduled to face nonconference competition. BIG EAST play will feature Georgetown at Connecticut in a doubleheader and Rutgers at Villanova in another doubledip.
