WASHINGTON - In the second last BIG EAST series of the season, the Georgetown University softball team (19-28, 8-8 BIG EAST) travels to Louisville, Ky. to take on the No. 7/8 Louisville Cardinal (42-7, 15-1 BIG EAST). The Cardinal are tied atop the BIG EAST standings with a 15-1 conference record.

The three game series starts on Saturday, April 27 with a doubleheader at Ulmer Stadium. First pitch for game one is scheduled for noon followed by game two at 2:30 p.m. The third and final game of the series is scheduled for noon on Sunday, April 28.

Louisville has only one loss in BIG EAST play, falling 4-2 against Syracuse back in March. Since the loss, the Cardinal have been on a 15 game winning streak, most recently snapped by a 2-1 loss against Kentucky on Wednesday. They are led offensively by the duo of Katie Keller and Alicja Wolny, combining for 19 homeruns, 91 RBI, and batting averages over .400.

Georgetown went 1-2 on the road last weekend against Providence. Shikara Lowe (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) has stepped up in her role as team captain, batting over .400 in 16 BIG EAST games this season with three homeruns and 13 RBI. Alexandria Anttila (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) has continued her strong offense output, totaling seven homeruns and 20 RBI in BIG EAST play this season.

The Hoyas are currently fifth in the BIG EAST conference standings with six conference games remaining on the regular season schedule. The top eight teams in the conference will travel to Tampa, Fla. for the BIG EAST tournament in two weeks. Georgetown is looking to make its first BIG EAST tournament in program history since joining the conference.
