TAMPA, FLA. – Providence College softball senior Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team on Wednesday, May 8 at the BIG EAST Banquet in Tampa, Fla.
Bryant is the 20th player in Friar history to earn the nomination and the first to earn All-BIG EAST honors since Christy Becker ’10, Michelle Huber ’12 and Justine Stratton ’11 were all named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team in 2010. In 2011, Stratton was also named to the BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament Team.
Bryant has set a personal best with 29 runs scored, 51 hits and 12 doubles this season. Bryant will enter Thursday's game with a single-season high in batting average (.345). Bryant ranks third in the team in batting average (.345), first in slugging percentage (.581), second in RBIs (31) and is tied for the team lead in homeruns (7) and total bases (86).
The seventh-seeded Friars (23-27-1, 9-13 BIG EAST) will play the second-seeded USF Bulls (40-14, 18-3 BIG EAST) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at the USF Softball Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The game is available online, here.
