Caira Named ECAC Pitcher of the Year

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Standout pitcher Jenna Caira (Toronto, Ontario) of the Syracuse University softball team has been named the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Pitcher of the Year, as voted on by member coaches of the ECAC. The accolades continue to pile up for Caira, who was named the 2011 BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year, while also being selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team and All-Great Lakes Region First Team. In leading the Orange to a second-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament title, Caira compiled a record of 35-11 with a 1.51 ERA in 2011. Her 35 wins were the most by any BIG EAST or ECAC pitcher and also set a Syracuse program record. Heading into her senior campaign in 2012, Caira will look to build upon her legacy as she already holds six Orange pitching records. Jocelyn Dearborn of Fordham was named the ECAC Player of the Year. Harvard's Kasey Lange was recognized as the ECAC Rookie of the Year and Bill Edwards of Hofstra was the Coach of the Year.
