PITTSBURGH – An All-American as a player and a National Championship winning coach, former Concordia University assistant Lindsey Campbell has been named assistant coach for the University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball program, as announced by head coach Dan Fisher.

Campbell comes with Fisher from Concordia after being an integral part of team’s unparalleled success over the past two seasons which culminated in the Eagles winning the 2012 NAIA National Championship. Fisher and Campbell coached Concordia University to a 75-2 record over the past two seasons.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Lindsey for the past two seasons and I know first-hand what an asset she will be,” Fisher said. “Lindsey knows the game at a high level, she is a people person and she understands the type of team culture we want to create. Pitt volleyball is lucky to have her ob board.”

A former standout for the Concordia volleyball team, Campbell was an All-Conference middle blocker three times (2005-07), while being named an NAIA All-American in 2006 and 2007. Campbell is currently Concordia’s school record holder in games played, blocks and assists, while she also tallied over 1,000 career kills.

Campbell graduated from CUI in 2008 with a degree in business sports management. Upon graduation, Campbell spent 2008-09 playing professionally for VC-Tirol in Innsbruck, Austria.

Following her playing career, Campbell was the Director of Volleyball Operations at the University of California, Irvine, from 2009-11. She also coached ages 13-17 at the Tstreet Volleyball Club and saw her 2010 and 2012 team’s compete at the Junior Olympics.

“I have worked with Dan [Fisher] for two years at Concordia, and when he asked me to come to Pitt, it was a no-brainer. I am very fortunate he gave me this opportunity to work with him again. We were very successful at Concordia winning a National Championship, so we are excited to bring Pitt to national prominence again.”

The three coaches on the Pitt volleyball staff have all won a National Championship. Fisher and Campbell raised the trophy last year at Concordia, while Craig Dyer captured a national title as an assistant for the Penn State men’s volleyball team in 2008.
