Lefebvre Helps Orange To Perfect Weekend, Tournament Title; Named Volleyball Player of the Week

, R.I. - Junior Noemie Lefebvre of Syracuse led the Orange to a 3-0 weekend and the tournament title at the Colgate Classic to earn the season's first BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week award. Notre Dame's Andrea McHugh was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for her efforts at the Shamrock Invitational, helping the Irish start the season 2-1.
 
Lefebvre was a standout for Syracuse, leading the team with 43 kills in three tournament matches. The junior stepped up in the championship match against Colgate, registering a career-best 23 kills to go along with 11 digs for her first double-double of the season and 37th of her career. Lefebvre averaged 3.91 kills and 2.00 digs per set while recording double-digit kills in all three weekend matches.
 
McHugh earns BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors after registering double-doubles in her first two collegiate appearances. McHugh had 11 kills and 16 digs in an opening-night win over Marshall Aug. 27, while following that with 14 kills and 18 digs in a win over Cal Poly Aug. 28. The freshman also recorded 12 kills and a solo block against No. 18 Arizona Aug. 29. She averaged 3.08 kills, 3.17 digs and 3.42 points in three matches for the Irish to help the team to a 2-1 record.
