BIG EAST Player of the Week

Vesela Zapryanova, DePaul, OH, Sr.
Zapryanova won MVP honors at the Drake Invitational after leading the Blue Demons to a 3-0 record and the tourney title. She hit .652 with a season-best 17 kills in the championship match against Eastern Illinois. The attack percentage was the highest at DePaul since 2008. Zapryanova led the team with 40 kills and 102 attempts for the tourney. She was second in digs with 39. With a 6-0 record, the Blue Demons are off to their best start since 2001.

BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

Autumn Bailey, Marquette, OH, Fr.
Posted a match-high 20 kills in a 3-1 victory against TCU with three service aces and 16 digs. Averaged 4.00 kills per set in a 1-1 week, which included a loss to No. 3 USC. Was named to the all-tournament team at the Marquette Challenge, her second all-tournament honor in as many weeks.

BIG EAST Honor Roll

Morgan Peterson, Butler, S, Sr.
Made the all-tournament team at the Arizona Desert Classic after averaging 9.11 assists in three matches. Led the Bulldogs to wins over IUPUI, Utah Valley and Eastern Kentucky in a 3-1 week.

Melanie Jereb, Creighton, OH, So.
Made the all-tournament team at the Bluejay Invitational. She averaged 2.89 kills, 2.22 digs, 0.67 blocks and 0.33 aces per set as CU was 2-1 and tourney runner-up. The Bluejays beat Northern Colorado and USF before falling to California.

Elizabeth Koberstein, Marquette, S, Sr.
Helped her team hit .309 in a 3-1 win against TCU and posted 55 assists (13.75 per set). Also had four kills and 11 digs in that contest. Named to the All-Marquette Challenge team.

Karin Palgutova, St. John’s, OH, So.
Posted 4.15 kills and 2.31 digs per set in a 2-2 week. Had 14 kills and 14 digs against New Hampshire. Held the match lead in kills in three of the Red Storm’s four matches.

Alex Smith, Xavier, MB, Sr.
Earned honor roll recognition for a second straight week after helping XU to a 2-1 record at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. She hit .525 for the three matches and was named to the all-tournament team.
