BIG EAST Player of the Week

Karin Palgutova, St. John’s, OH, So.
Palgutova recorded 4.46 kills per set and 5.12 points per set in a 3-1 week for the Red Storm. She moved into first place in the BIG EAST in both categories. Palgutova also had 2.92 digs per set. She was named All-Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic for her work in wins against Georgia Tech and Troy. The Red Storm lost to Connecticut to finish second at the event.

BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

Lauren Smith, Creighton, MB, Fr.
Smith hit .406 in a 3-1 week. She began the week with 10 kills and nine blocks on .316 hitting in a 3-1 win against Kansas. In a 3-0 sweep over previously unbeaten Cal-State Northridge in the Denver Invitational, her .909 hitting percentage set a school record for any player with at least 10 attempts. Smith also had a career-high 13 kills on .346 hitting in a 3-2 win over host Denver. She had seven kills and four blocks in a 3-1 loss to No. 11 UCLA and was named to the all-tournament team.

BIG EAST Honor Roll

Belle Obert, Butler, OH, Jr.
The Bulldogs had a 3-1 week with the help of Obert, who had 47 kills (3.36 per set), 22 digs and nine blocks. She made the All-Butler Invitational Team.

Leah McNary, Creighton, OH, Jr.
Averaged 3.50 kills and 1.12 blocks while hitting .252 in a 3-1 week. She has a season-high 19 kills and four blocks while hitting .342 in a loss to No. 11 UCLA.

Natalie Rizzo, DePaul, MB, Sr.
Hit .367 while helping the Blue Demons compile a 3-0 mark at The Citadel Invitational. DePaul beat Charleston Southern, Radford and The Citadel. The Blue Demons’ 9-0 overall record ties the best start in program history.

Lindsey Gosh, Marquette, RS, Jr.
Named to the all-tournament team at the FGCU Volleyball Classic after averaging 2.91 kills, 0.64 service aces per set while hitting .342 in a 2-1 weekend against Penn State, FGCU and Central Arkansas.

Michaela Berendt, Villanova, MB, Fr.
Named to the All-Maryland Invitational Team where she helped the Wildcats beat George Mason and New Hampshire before falling to the host Terrapins. She hit .372 in a 3-1 week.
