BIG EAST Player of the Week
Michelle Sicner, Creighton, S, Jr.
Sicner had triple-doubles in victories over DePaul and Marquette in Creighton’s first two BIG EAST home matches in program history. Against DePaul, Sicner had 39 assists, 12 digs and a career-high 12 kills in a 3-1 victory. In a 3-0 sweep against league-leading Marquette, Sicner registered 33 assists, 15 digs and 12 more kills. She hit .579 in both matches. She became the second player in school history to record consecutive triple-doubles.
BIG EAST Rookie of the Week
Jess Bird, Creighton, OH, Fr.
Bird helped the Bluejays to home wins against DePaul and Marquette while averaging 2.86 kills, 2.29 digs and 1.00 blocks per set. She posted 12 kills, seven digs, five blocks, four assists and two aces against DePaul. In the win over Marquette, she finished with eight kills, nine digs, two blocks and an assist.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Dani White, Georgetown, MB, Jr.
Helped the Hoyas win consecutive BIG EAST matches for the first time since 2011. Had a total of 12 blocks in road wins at St. John’s and Seton Hall.
Meghan Niemann, Marquette, MH, R-Fr.
In a 1-1 week, she hit .462 including .500 with 12 kills in a loss at Creighton. Landed 11 kills and hit .421 in a sweep of Loyola-Chicago.
Aleksandra Wachowicz, St. John’s, OH, Jr.
Hit .417 in a 1-1 week. Recorded 27 kills and a career-best .532 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Villanova.
Shelbey Manthorpe, Seton Hall, S, Jr.
Recorded a triple-double in a 3-2 win over Villanova with a season-high 51 assists. In a 2-1 week for the Pirates, she also had 24 assists and 11 digs in a win against Hofstra.
Abby Bessler, Xavier, OH, Fr.
Helped the Musketeers into sole possession of first place by recording 22 kills and 10 digs in a five-set victory over Butler. It was her seventh straight double-double and 12th of the season.
