BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Championship Begins Today
The 2011 BIG EAST women's volleyball championship will be held Nov. 18-20 at the Al McGuire Center on the campus of Marquette University. All quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be streamed live for free on www.bigeast.tv. Competition begins at 11 a.m. ET when No. 4 seed Syracuse plays No. 5 seed Notre Dame. At 1:30 p.m., No. 1 seed Louisville, the regular season champion, will pay No. 8 seed Pittsburgh. At 4:30 p.m., No. 2 Cincinnati will play No. 7 seed Villanova. Quarterfinal competition will wrap up at 7 p.m. when No. 3 seed Marquette faces off against No. 6 seed Seton Hall. The semifinals will take place at 2 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The championship match on Sunday at 4 p.m. will be televised live exclusively on ESPNU.
BIG EAST Men's Soccer Has Seven Teams in NCAA Championship Second Round Women's Soccer NCAA Second Round Action On Friday In women's soccer action, Louisville and Marquette hit the road in the second round of the NCAA Championship. The Golden Eagles will face No. 4 seed Penn State in Winston-Salem, N.C., Friday at 5 p.m., while the Cardinals head to No. 4 seed Memphis Friday at 8:30 p.m. Both teams are looking to advance to third round matchups on Sunday. Louisville earned its first NCAA win following a 2-0 victory over Dayton in the first round. Marquette went to overtime to knock off Toledo 1-0 in its first round win.
Three BIG EAST men's soccer teams opened 2011 NCAA Championship play on Thursday, with Providence, West Virginia and Rutgers all winning to advance to the second round. All three teams hosted first-round games and will go on the road for the second round, which will be played on Sunday, Nov. 20. The Friars, Mountaineers and Scarlet Knights will join four BIG EAST teams that received first-round byes and will host their first NCAA games of the 2011 tournament. No. 3 seed Connecticut will play at 1 p.m., No. 7 seed USF plays at 6 p.m. and No. 9 seed St. John's and No. 12 seed Louisville will play at 7 p.m.
Connecticut Field Hockey Reaches NCAA Final Four
The University of Connecticut field hockey team will play in an NCAA Championship semifinal game in Louisville, Ky. The No. 4 seed Huskies will meet No. 1 seed North Carolina at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Trager Stadium. UConn advanced by beating Princeton and Penn State in the first and second rounds.
Five BIG EAST Women's Cross Country Teams Advance to NCAA Championship
Five BIG EAST women's cross country teams will be competing in the NCAA Championship, which will return to Terre Haute, Ind. and will be contested Nov. 21. Senior Sheila Reid was the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region individual champion for the third consecutive season and Villanova earned a share of the team title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region meet. Chris Fox was named the Northeast Region Coach of the Year. Notre Dame was selected as an at-large team, as was West Virginia. Lauren Sara from Connecticut was selected to compete as an individual from the Northeast Region.

Georgetown, Syracuse, Villanova, Notre Dame and Providence will compete in the NCAA Championship, held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 21. Georgetown won the Mid-Atlantic Region to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Villanova earned a spot with a second-place team finish at the Mid-Atlantic regional meet. After winning the men's Mid-Atlantic regional for the seventh time in eight years, Georgetown's Pat Henner was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
