Marquette's Carlson Earns Academic All-America Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Danielle Carlson of Marquette was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).


Carlson was the BIG EAST's only Senior CLASS Award nominee and was Marquette's first volleyball player since 1996 to earn an Academic All-America honor.


The senior is a psychology and theology major with a 3.72 grade point average. She led the Golden Eagles to a 27-7 record in 2012 and finished her career as the program's all-time leader in hitting percentage (.358). On Nov. 11 she became the 12th player in Marquette's history to reach 1,000 kills for her career.
