BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Harry Cooksley, St. John’s, Jr., M/F (London, England)
The senior midfielder had a goal in each game this week as St. John’s went 1-0-1 including an upset league win over No. 11 Butler at home. Cooksley scored the lone goal in a 1-1 draw with Loyola during midweek non-conference play. He followed that up with the game-winning goal in the 85th minute in the Red Storm’s victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday night. Cooksley leads the Red Storm in points with 14 with four goals and six assists.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Matt Nance, Xavier, Jr., D (Washington, Mich.)
In a 1-0-1 week for Xavier, Nance assisted on both ends of the pitch as the defender helped the Musketeers to a non-conference shutout over Belmont during midweek play, then held Villanova under its season average for shots during a double-overtime draw. Nance helped Xavier on the offensive side of the ball as he led the team with five points (2G, 1A) and scored goals in both of Xavier’s matches.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Quentin Low, DePaul, Jr., GK (Long Grove, Ill.)
Goalkeeper Quentin Low had a 1-0 week in goal as he made three saves in a 17-shot match against Georgetown. The junior keeper helped the Blue Demons hang on to a 1-0 victory for three points in the league standings, moving DePaul up to seventh with six points.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Alistair Johnston, St. John’s, Fr., M (Aurora, Ontario)
Johnston scored the first goal in St. John’s 2-1 win over No. 11 Butler on Saturday in league play. Johnston is third on the Red Storm in points with eight and ties Cooksley for second in goals with four.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Lewis Suddick, Butler, Fr., M (Newcastle upon Tyne, England)
Scored the lone goal for Butler in a 2-1 loss at St. John’s. His goal in the 65th minute leveled the score at 1-1, the eighth goal for him this season.
Ricardo Perez, Creighton, Sr., M/F (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico)
Scored two goals in a 2-1 win over Marquette to keep Creighton at the top of the league standings.
Erik Rodriguez, DePaul, Sr., F (Elgin, Ill.)
Notched the game-winner in a 1-0 victory at Georgetown on Saturday, helping the Blue Demons win two in a row. He has connected on the game-winner in the last two games.
Lucas Hodges, Villanova, Jr., M (Palos Verdes, Calif.)
Scored one of Villanova’s two goals in a 2-2 draw on Saturday at Xavier. He now leads the Wildcats with four goals on the season.
Colin Hanley, Xavier, So., GK (Mandeville, La.)
Split a shutout on Tuesday in non-conference play and earned a tie against Villanova on Saturday as he came in with a 1-0 deficit. Had 0.55 goals against average for the week.
