NEW YORK – Creighton got on back this weekend extending its winning streak to three games in BIG EAST volleyball action after a sweep of Xavier on Sunday. Also back in the winning column on Sunday was Marquette, who swept Georgetown to continue to lead the league at 8-1. Villanova extended its winning streak to two matches as well with a five-set victory over DePaul Sunday afternoon. Butler ended the weekend with a W with a three-set win over Providence.
At the turn for nine of the 10 teams, Marquette leads the way with Creighton behind at 7-1. Villanova and Seton Hall are tied for third at 6-3. At 5-4, Butler ranks fifth with Providence right behind at 4-4. St. John’s is in seventh with a 3-6 record. DePaul and Xavier are tied for eighth at 2-7 and Georgetown ranks 10th with a 1-8 record.
No. 17 CREIGHTON 3, XAVIER 0 (25-14,25-19,25-15)
Creighton’s Marysa Wilkinson had 14 kills on .700 hitting as the No. 17 Bluejays cruised to a 3-0 sweep over visiting Xavier on Sunday. Creighton is now 14-5 (7-1 BIG EAST), while Xavier dropped to 7-16 (2-7 BIG EAST). Wilkinson and Jaali Winters each had 14 kills to pace a high-powered Bluejay attack that hit .394 on the afternoon. Lydia Dimke had 39 assists to quarterback the offense, while Brittany Witt provided 19 digs to pace the Bluejay defense that did not surrender and ace and held Xavier to .160 hitting. Xavier finished with 28 kills, no aces, 38 digs and three blocks. Morgan Finn led the Musketeers with seven kills and Meredith Klare had a team-best 11 digs.

MARQUETTE 3, GEORGETOWN 0 (25-17,25-12,25-16)
Marquette surged back in the winning column with a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-12, 25-16) over Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena. The Golden Eagles (14-6, 8-1) were led by Allie Barber with 15 kills and a .406 clip, while Jenna Rosenthal had a stellar .714 hitting percentage with 10 kills and no errors. Setter Lauren Speckman dished out 40 assists, while freshman libero Martha Konovodoff collected 13 digs. Georgetown (7-14, 1-8) was led by Alyssa Sinnette with 11 kills, while two other Hoyas recorded five kills each.

BUTLER 3, PROVIDENCE 0 (25-12,25-22,25-20)
The Bulldogs picked up their 15th win of the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep at Providence (25-12, 25-22, 25-20). Butler improved their BIG EAST record to 5-4 while the Friars move to 4-4 in league play. Anna Logan led Butler offensively with 16 kills on 30 attempts (.400). She was one of two BU players to reach a double figure kill total. Fellow outside hitter Whitney Beck ended the contest with 11 kills and 13 digs. She posted the only double-double of the match for BU. Providence’s Cayla Veverka had nine kills. Allison Barber had 25 assists.

VILLANOVA 3, DEPAUL 2 (25-22,25-22,22-25,20-25,15-9)
Villanova’s Amanda Pedersen-Henry was one of four Wildcats in double-digit kills. She had a team-high 16 kills as Villanova defeated DePaul 3-2 (25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 15-9) on Sunday afternoon. Allie Loitz was also in double-digit kills with 15 as she earned her 1,000th career kill during the 5th set. Allison Fitzgerald had 30 digs. For DePaul Brittany Maxwell had 18 kills with 11 digs. Caitlyn Coffey had 14 kills.
