Declan McCabe, Georgetown, Sr., M (Weston, Mass.)
Georgetown senior Declan McCabe had an impressive offensive showing on Friday afternoon in a 3-0 win over then-No. 15 Butler. McCabe had a “foot” in each of the then-No. 10 Hoyas three goals for four points against the previously undefeated in league action Butler. McCabe scored the eventual game-winner, drawing first blood at the end of the second minute of play. McCabe helped make it 2-0 in the 10th minute as he assisted Achara’s goal. McCabe added his second assist of the match on Derek Dodsons’ insurance goal in the 34th minute.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Lukas Pangonis, Seton Hall, Sr., D (Kaunas, Lithuania)
Senior Luke Pangonis repeats as Defensive Player of the Week after logging 90 minutes on a back line that held DePaul to three shots on goal. Pangonis added to Seton Hall’s 2-1 win over DePaul with the game-winning goal in the 84th minute, a sliding shot which was the first of Pangonis’ career. Pangonis has played in 60 career matches, 4,973 minute of play.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
JT Marcinkowski, Georgetown, Jr., GK (Alamo, Calif.)
Georgetown keeper JT Marcinkowski earned his fourth shutout victory of the season, behind three goals by the Hoya offense against then-No. 15 Butler. Marcinkowski had three saves in the 90 minutes, 1.000 save percentage.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Derek Dodson, Georgetown, Fr., F (Aurora, Ill.)
Hoya sophomore Derek Dodson scored the insurance goal for two points against then-No. 15 Butler in Friday’s top 25 BIG EAST matchup. Dodson’s goal was his fourth of the season.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Connor Ramlo, Creighton, So., M (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
Ramlo scored his first career goal in the 69th minute, tying the game at 2-2 in the rain-shortened match against St. John’s on Friday night. The goal was a first-touch header following a free kick.
Jason Davis, Marquette, Sr., F (Birmingham, England)
Scored the first game-tying goal of the match against Providence in the 64th minute. Marquette and Providence tied at 2-2.
Harry Cooksley, St. John’s, Sr., M/F (London, England)
Cooksley scored both of St. John’s goals in a weather-shortened match at Creighton, the game-tying goal in the 46th minute, and the second goal in the 56th.
Chris Bared, Villanova, Sr., D (Miami, Fla.)
Bared scored Villanova’s second goal of the match in the 61st minute, which turned out to be vital in the Wildcats’ 2-1 win over Xavier. Bared played 90 minutes on a back line that held Xavier to just three shots on goal.
Matt Vasquenza, Xavier, Sr., F (East Hampton, Conn.)
Vasquenza scored three goals in a 1-1 week for Xavier, doubling his season total. He scored twice in the first half against Detroit in a 3-1 non-league win at home and scored XU’s lone goal at Villanova on Saturday.
