Seton Hall forced 33 turnovers in a dominant defensive effort to pick up a 91-49 victory over Saint Peter's. The Pirates finished with 21 steals in the triumph, most in a game since 1993. JaQuan Jackson scored her 1,000th career point (431 at Seton Hall) in the first quarter of the contest. In her first game as a Pirate, Donnaizha Fountain led four players in double-figures with 22 points and added six rebounds in only 15 minutes of action. The Pirates overcame a slow shooting start and built a 15-point lead at the half, swelling to as many as 44 midway through the fourth quarter

Creighton 66, Wichita State 61
Freshman Temi Carda delivered four decisive points in the final four minutes to help the Creighton women's basketball team hold off Wichita State, 66-61. Despite the narrow score, the Bluejays never trailed thanks to Audrey Faber’s 16 points and six rebounds and Sydney Lamberty’s 14 points, seven boards and five assists. Creighton shot .585 from the field, while limiting the Shockers to a .390 clip.

Columbia 73, Providence 64
A back-and-forth battle which saw 12 lead changes and 10 ties ended in the hands of the Lions. The Friars jumped out to a seven-point opening quarter lead, but three-straight 20-point frames by Columbia gave the Lions the edge. Jovana Nogic led PC with 20 points off 7-of-14 shooting, while rookie point guard Chanell Williams chipped in 14 points and four dimes in her debut.

St. John’s 73, St. Francis (NY) 49
St. John’s tied a school record with 14 blocks en route to a 73-49 win over St. Francis Brooklyn. After a tightly contested first half, the Red Storm pulled away in the latter stanza thanks in part to a 17-0 run with time winding down. St. John’s saw 35 of its 73 points come from the bench. Freshman Qadashah Hoppie excelled in her freshman debut, tying sophomore Andrayah Adams for a team high 16 points. Adams performance was highlighted by four shots from beyond the three-point line. Maya Singleton notched one of two double-doubles recorded in the BIG EAST on opening night with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Villanova led 40-35 with 6:39 to play in the third quarter when the Wildcats went on a 10-2 run to open up a 50-37 advantage at the 2:26 mark. Villanova shot 58.8 percent from the field in the third quarter (10-of-17) and outscored the Hawks by a 23-7 margin. The third quarter spurt would help the Wildcats cruise in the fourth quarter as Hartford never got within 16 in the fourth stanza. Adrianna Hahn scored a game-high 18 points, while Mary Gedaka notched one of two double-doubles in the BIG EAST on opening night with 15 points and 11 boards.

Northern Colorado 94, 25/20 DePaul 88
Despite a furious rally that nearly overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter, No. 25/20 DePaul came up short Friday night in its season opener. The Blue Demons fell 94-88 to a Northern Colorado team that made 33 of 37 free throws. Tanita Allen led the Blue Demons with 17 points and nine rebounds. The five DePaul players in double figures included Amarah Coleman (16), Ashton Millender (14), Kelly Campbell (13) and Mart'e Grays had 12 points. The Blue Demons shot 42.5 percent from the field and forced 20 turnovers.
