BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Lewis Suddick, Butler, So., M/F (Newcastle upon Tyne, England)
Butler sophomore midfielder/forward Lewis Suddick tied for the league-high in points last week, a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs. Suddick had six points, two goals and two assists. Against 2016 NCAA Tournament team South Florida on Friday, Suddick opened the scoring with a goal less than 90 seconds into the match. His penalty kick in the 93rd minute was the game-winner in overtime. Against San Francisco on Sunday, Suddick had two assists, including a helper on Kieran Geldenhuys’ game-winner as Suddick served up the corner kick that was headed in at the 83:55 mark in the 3-2 win.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Peter Schropp, Georgetown, Jr., D (Omaha, Neb.)
Hoya Peter Schropp helped Georgetown to an unbeaten week (2-0) and limited two opponents to 18 shots as the Blue and Gray allowed just one goal. Schropp played all 180 minutes, limiting Cal Poly to eight shots and then-No. 19 Coastal Carolina to 10 shots, 0 goals. Schropp also added a goal in the 3-0 win Monday after Coastal Carolina.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
JT Marcinkowski, Georgetown, Jr., GK (Alamo, Calif. )
BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year JT Marcinkowski marked two wins in goal for Georgetown this past week as the junior allowed just one goal and added a shutout over then-No. 19 Coastal Carolina to his resume. Marcinkowski played all 180:00 minutes, marked four saves and a 0.50 goals against average.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Yusuf Cueceoglu, Villanova, Fr., M, (Koln, Germany)
Villanova rookie Yusuf Cueceoglu marked a BIG EAST game high this past week with five points (two goals and an assist) in the Wildcats’ 5-2 win over UMBC. He also played 90 minutes in Villanova’s 1-0 loss to Temple. He took one shot. One of his goals against UMBC was the eventual game-winner.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Ricky Lopez-Espin, Creighton, Sr., F (Miami, Fla.)
Scored a goal and added an assist in then-No. 23 Creighton’s 3-0 victory at Cal. All of his shots were on goal.
Istvan Wilhelms, DePaul, Fr., M (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.)
In a 1-1 week, Wilhelms had three points with a goal in a 2-1 loss to Valparaiso and an assist in the 2-1 win over Loyola Chicago.
Achara, Georgetown, So., F (Enugu, Nigera)
Tied for league-best six points in a 2-0 week for Georgetown as the sophomore scored three goals, two in the 3-1 win over Cal Poly and the final insurance goal in the Hoyas’ 3-0 victory over then-No. 19 Coastal Carolina.
Mac Steeves, Providence, RS-Sr., F (Needham, Mass.)
Recorded two assists in the double overtime win against URI on Saturday. His first assist was on the game-tying goal with three minutes remaining in regulation. His second was the helper on the game-winning goal.
Andreas Bartosinksi, Villanova, Sr., M ( Engelskirchen, Germany)
Bartosinksi sank two goals in the 5-2 win for Villanova over UMBC. His two goals in the game tied a league game- high last week. His first goal pulled the Cats even after falling behind 1-0 and his second gave VU a cushion late in the second half, extending the lead to 4-2 to answer a UMBC goal.
