NEW YORK – Creighton guard Marcus Foster has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Xavier forward Naji Marshall has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Foster led the Bluejays to a 2-0 week and Marshall contributed to a Xavier win in the Musketeers’ only contest.  Both players are being honored for the second time this season.
  
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Marcus Foster, Creighton, G, Sr. – Foster averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Bluejays.  In an 85-77 win against Georgetown on Saturday, he had 28 points and six rebounds.  Earlier in the week, in a 68-63 victory at St. John’s, the senior had 24 points and eight rebounds.  Foster, who owns a 19.6 scoring average in all games, has put together three straight 20-point performances.  He is the first Bluejay to do that since Doug McDermott in 2013-14. 
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Naji Marshall, Xavier, F, Fr. – In an 89-70 victory over Marquette, Marshall scored 10 points and dealt four assists.  He shot 4-of-8 from the floor.  Recently inserted into the starting lineup, Marshall is averaging 7.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and shooting 55.6 percent from the field.
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll                              
Kelan Martin, Butler, F, Sr.
Posted 19 points, five rebounds and two steals in a win over St. John’s (70-45).  Shot 4-of-8 from 3-point range.  
Eli Cain, DePaul, G, Jr.
Had 27 points and the winning basket in a win at Georgetown (74-73).  Against the Hoyas, shot 10-of-15 from the field and 5-of-8 from 3-point range.  In a 1-1 week, averaged 19.0 points.       
Myles Powell, Seton Hall, G, So.
Scored a game-high 21 points in a victory at DePaul (86-70).  Shot 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.   
Jalen Brunson, Villanova, G, Jr.
Averaged 23.0 points in a 2-0 week.  Matched his season high with 31 points for a third time this season in a win at Marquette (85-82).     
Trevon Bluiett, Xavier, G, Sr.
Posted 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in an 89-70 victory over Marquette.  Played only 25 minutes and took only nine shots to reach his totals.
