Providence 70, St. John’s 68
The Friars claimed consecutive wins over St. John’s for the first time since 2001-02 as Providence earned a crucial season sweep over the Red Storm. Jovana Nogic went for a game-high 27 points to lead PC (9-14, 2-9 BIG EAST), while St. John’s (12-10, 5-6) was sparked by Qadashah Hoppie’s 19 points. Down 20 with less than eight minutes to play, the Red Storm mounted a furious comeback, outscoring the Friars 22-6 to cut the deficit to four with eight ticks left. Nogic sank a free-throw to bump the difference back up to five, while Shamachya Duncan drained a three with time expiring to narrow the file margin to two. Providence shot 50 percent from the field while the Red Storm forced 16 Friar turnovers resulting in 24 points.

NR/RV Villanova 69, Butler 67
Four Wildcats scored in double figures as Villanova remained in a tie for third place in the BIG EAST standings. Butler (13-10, 5-6 BIG EAST) had a pair of standouts in Whitney Jennings (29 points) and Tori Schickel (19 points), but Villanova (17-5, 7-4) knocked down 14 three-pointers, including four by Kelly Jekot, to clinch the win. The game’s final 20 minutes was separated by single digits, including a tie score with under three minutes to go. Jannah Tucker drained a three with 2:28 remaining to give Villanova the lead which it would not relinquish thanks to accurate free-throw shooting down the stretch.

Georgetown 65, Xavier 48
The Hoyas won for the third time in four games to improve to 10-11 on the year, 5-6 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown led wire-to-wire, holding Xavier (9-13, 2-9 BIG EAST) to single-digit points until the 3:07 mark of the second quarter. Cynthia Petke led the Hoyas with her 10
th double-double of the year, posting 18 points, 11 rebounds, while Jada Byrd led the Musketeers with 15 points and four assists. XU shot nearly 41 percent in the second half and held GU to just seven fourth-quarter points, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.

Creighton 81, Seton Hall 64 (OT)
The Bluejays found themselves in overtime for the fifth time this season and were impressive in the extra frame, outscoring The Hall 17-0 in the five bonus minutes. Creighton improved to 4-1 in overtime games this year, while remaining in a tie for third place with a 7-4 BIG EAST mark, 13-8 overall. A game of runs saw Seton Hall (13-9, 5-6 BIG EAST) turn a 20-point first-quarter deficit into a three-point lead, with the Pirates owning the advantage late in the third. Creighton led by six with 1:54 left before SHU closed on a 6-0 run to tie the game for the ninth time. Olivia Elger scored seven points in overtime en route to 17 points, while CU’s Sydney Lamberty and SHU’s JaQuan Jackson posted matching game highs of 21 points.
