Villanova, St. John’s and No. 19/16 Marquette pick up finals week wins.

Villanova 62, RV/- Georgia 56  
The Wildcats picked up their fifth consecutive win, improving to 8-2 on the season, topping the Bulldogs Friday night at Finneran Pavilion. Kelly Jekot scored a game-high 20 points, draining 7-of-10 from the field, while adding seven boards and two assists. Down by seven midway through the first quarter, VU closed the opening frame on an 11-2 run to lead 14-12 after one, then kept the pressure on to lead by double figures throughout the second half. The Wildcats shot .442 on the night and made all seven attempts from the charity stripe.

Northeastern 65, Providence 59
Northeastern led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter before the Friars (5-4) went on a 17-4 run to get within two (61-59) with 1:19 left in the game. The Huskies held on down the stretch, however, with a 4-4 performance at the free-throw line. Providence's Chanell Williams scored 10 of her team-high 20 points during the fourth-quarter run. She finished the day 9-15 from the field and added two rebounds, one assist and a career-high five steals.

St. John’s 83, La Salle 57
St. John's made a 14-0 run over the final five minutes of action to cement a wire-to-wire win at La Salle on Saturday afternoon.  The Johnnies' 83-point scoring effort marked the team's highest of the season. Akina Wellere led the way for the Red Storm (7-3) with a game-high 21 points on an 8-of-12 shooting effort from the field, knocking down 2-of-4 from long distance. The Chicago native is now just 31 points shy of joining the 1,000-point club.

19/16 Marquette 80, Green Bay 54
Nationally ranked Marquette downed in-state foe Green Bay, 80-54, Saturday afternoon for its first win over the Phoenix since 2011. Natisha Hiedeman led four Marquette (8-2) players in double figures with 18 points, seven boards, four assists and three steals. MU set the tone early, running out to a 12-0 lead over the first five minutes of the contest and never looked back, leading by as many as 30. Marquette shot over 50 percent for the fifth time this season.

RV/RV Florida State 71, Creighton 52
Tied at 44-44 late in the third quarter, Creighton suffered a late scoring drought as the Bluejays fell at Florida State on Sunday. The loss moved Creighton to 4-5 on the season, while Florida State improved to 10-1 overall. Jaylyn Agnew led the Bluejays with 19 points and eight boards, making 7-fo-14 attempts from the field. FSU outscored CU 18-6 over the final quarter to erase the Bluejays’ once seven-point lead.

Cincinnati 79, Xavier 61
Despite 20 points from Na’Teshia Owens, the Musketeers’ winning streak was halted at five with a setback to rival Cincinnati in the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout. Xavier (7-2) led for the first 13 minutes of the contest before a back-and-forth battle ensued, featuring nine lead changes and 11 ties. The Bearcats clamped down on XU in the second half as the Musketeers were outscored 38-20 over the final 20 minutes, including 14-5 in the final quarter. A’riana Gray added 11 points and seven boards.
