Georgetown rallies from 16 down, Creighton ends Chicago skid, Butler wins the battle on FS2, No. 22/19 Marquette sets the tone and Seton Hall wins the rivalry game.

Butler 63, Villanova 55  
Tori Schickel scored a game-high 22 points off 10-of-15 shooting to lead the Bulldogs over Villanova Saturday night at Finneran Pavilion. The game aired live on FS2. Butler jumped out to a 21-11 first-quarter lead before the Wildcats clamped down in the second frame to hold BU to just seven points to take a two-point lead into halftime. VU led by as many as 11 in the third quarter before Butler used a 10-0 run to close the frame. The fourth belonged to the Bulldogs, outscoring Villanova 20-8 to pick up the league opener. Adrianna Hahn led four Wildcats in double figures with 16 points.

Creighton 85, 19/20 DePaul 82
The Bluejays picked up their first win in Chicago in eight tries and halted the Blue Demons’ nine-game winning streak in the series on Saturday night. Brooke Kissinger led Creighton with 20 points off 7-of-8 shooting, including a 6-of-7 clip from deep. The back-and-forth battle saw 14 ties and 10 lead changes, with the nationally ranked Blue Demons leading with less than a minute to go before Audrey Faber made the go-ahead three-pointer with 39 seconds left. Faber and Olivia Elger made free-throws down the stretch to hold on to the lead. Chante Stonewall led DePaul with 17 points and eight boards, while Faber finished with 19 and five.

22/19 Marquette 85, Providence 46
The Friars scored first but the host Golden Eagles responded moments later and led the rest of the way as three MU players scored in double figures on Saturday afternoon. Erika Davenport notched a double-double of 19 points and 20 rebounds, while Natisha Hiedeman scored 25 points and added eight boards, three assists and three steals. The nationally ranked Golden Eagles shot .516 from the floor and won the rebounding battle 50-25. Jovana Nogic sparked Providence with 12 points, while rookie Mary Baskerville added eight points and five boards.

Georgetown 68, Xavier 61
The Hoyas rallied from a 16-point deficit to win their BIG EAST opener at home on Saturday evening. Dionna White led GU with 24 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals, including 16 second-half points to spark the comeback. A’riana Gray posted her sixth double-double of the year for Xavier, tallying 12 points and 11 boards. GU shot nearly 53 percent in the third quarter to take their first lead of the game with 1:45 left in the frame. The Hoyas never relinquished the advantage as Mikayla Venson scored seven of her 11 points over the final 10 minutes to keep GU ahead.

Seton Hall 77, St. John’s 67
The Pirates improved to 7-0 at Walsh Gym this season with a 10-point Sunday afternoon win over rival St. John’s. Four SHU players scored in double figures, including Inja Butina, who matched the Red Storm’s Qadashah Hoppie for the game high with 19. The back-and-forth physical game saw eight ties and four lead changes, with the Pirates moving ahead with 5:56 left in the third and never looked back. SHU used its up-tempo style to outrun St. John’s, scoring 22 points off fast breaks.
