Temple’s Nicole Barretta totals eight points in Saturday’s season-opening win over Rutgers.

Barretta was the BIG EAST’s top points-earner last week with her career-high eight in Saturday’s win over Rutgers. The senior netted four goals and dished a career-high four assists as the Owls claimed the 12-8 victory.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Midfielder of the Week
Julie Blaze, Vanderbilt, Jr., M
Blaze sparked the Commodores to an 18-14 win at Kennesaw State on Sunday by stuffing the stat sheet with four goals, two assists, three ground balls and four draw controls.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Carson Gregg, Denver, Jr., GK
Earning her first career start, Gregg made a career-high 16 saves in Sunday’s win over RV Stanford. She was also credited with three ground balls and helped keep the Cardinal scoreless (0-11) on free-position shots. Gregg posted a career-best .640 save clip in the Pioneers’ 12-9 victory.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Freshman of the Week
Sydney Watson, Connecticut, Fr., M
In her first collegiate game, Watson led the Huskies at No. 7 Syracuse with four goals off seven shots, one assist and a game-high eight draw controls. The rookie was hot from the start in her debut, scoring back-to-back goals less than 90 seconds into the contest to give UConn an early advantage. She reached the hat trick mark with 11:38 left in the first half and dished her first collegiate assist with less than a minute to go in the opening 30. Watson’s scoring day concluded with just under 19 minutes to go in regulation with her fourth goal of the game.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll
Grace Gabriel, Marquette, Jr., M
Gabriel’s week was highlighted by a five-goal, eight-draw control performance at RV Louisville on Sunday. For the week she totaled five goals, 16 shots and 10 draw controls in road contests against the Cardinals and No. 22 Johns Hopkins.
Haley Hicklen, Florida, Jr., GK
Hicklen set a career high with 14 saves on 34 shots faced against No. 17/16 Colorado, while only allowing nine goals for a .609 save percentage.
Francesca Whitehurst, Georgetown, Jr., M
Whitehurst led the Hoyas to an 18-15 win over visiting Saint Joseph’s on Saturday with a hat trick, nine draw controls and a ground ball.
