Providence shoots 92 percent in the opening quarter to top Xavier in home finale.

-/RV Marquette 71, Georgetown 68
The Golden Eagles remained in a first-place tie in the BIG EAST standings with RV/24 DePaul by holding on to beat the visiting Hoyas and split the regular-season series. Georgetown eyed its second upset in a row after topping the Blue Demons on Friday, and kept MU on its heels in a game with eight ties and 10 lead changes.  GU went ahead by one with 1:39 to play, but free-throws down the stretch by Danielle King and Natisha Hiedeman held off the Hoyas. Hiedeman finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Georgetown saw Dionna White go for a game-high 27 off 11-of-18 shooting.

RV/24 DePaul 71, RV/RV Villanova 66
The Blue Demons remained in a tie for first place in the BIG EAST standings with -/RV Marquette by edging visiting Villanova and split the season series. The lead changed hands 11 times with both teams making game-changing runs throughout the contest. The Wildcats were without starting point guard Adrianna Hahn, who was sidelined with an injury. The Blue Demons took the lead with 6:33 remaining and never relinquished as Villanova went cold from the field, missing its final seven field goal attempts as DePaul made clutch baskets down the stretch. Ashton Millender led all scorers with 19 points off 8-14 shooting, while Villanova was led by Kelly Jekot’s 17 points.

Creighton 64, Butler 55
The Bluejays jumped up to third place in the BIG EAST standings with a win over the Bulldogs in Omaha. The teams split the season series after each squad won on their respective home courts. The first quarter proved to be the difference as Creighton outscored Butler 18-10 in the opening frame and just 46-45 over the final 30 minutes. The Bluejays led wire-to-wire but the Bulldogs kept mostly within single digits, including just two points at the start of the third. BU’s Tori Schickel led all scorers with 20 points, while Creighton saw four players score in double figures, including 14 points off 5-of-6 shooting by Ali Greene.

Providence 69, Xavier 48  
The Friars maintained their lead in the standings over Xavier and split the regular-season series thanks to an unstoppable start. Providence shot 92.3 percent in the opening quarter to lead 28-6 after 10 minutes. XU got within 15 twice in the fourth quarter, but the Friars responded each time to hold on for the win. Na’Teshia Owens led the Musketeers in scoring for the second consecutive game, going for 13 points, while Providence saw Jovana Nogic reach the 20-point mark for the 10th time this season with a  game-high 25.
