BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Zsani Kajan, St. John’s, R-Jr., F
Kajan led the Red Storm to an unbeaten (1-0-1) week, highlighted by a thrilling comeback win at Villanova on Thursday. The redshirt-junior notched a hat trick, including the 91
st-minute golden goal, as St. John’s erased a 3-1 second-half deficit to win, 4-3. Kajan also had the lone Red Storm score in a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Creighton on Sunday. For the week, Kajan tallied a BIG EAST-high four goals and eight points, despite taking just six total shots.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Bahr, Xavier, Sr., M/D
Bahr earns her third certificate of the season after leading the Musketeers to a pair of wins en route to taking over first place in the BIG EAST standings and clinching a berth into the conference tournament. The Xavier defense limited Marquette and DePaul to a combined 12 shots and just six on goal, while allowing just three corner kicks. Bahr added a flair of offense as well, scoring an early-game penalty kick at Marquette before assisting on the game-winning goal.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Stephanie Rodriguez, Butler, Jr., GK
Rodriguez added two more shutouts to her growing BIG EAST-leading tally this season, denying three shots in a road win at Providence on Thursday and at home against Marquette on Sunday. The clean sheets were her eighth and ninth of the season, lowering her goals against average to 0.73, best among BIG EAST keepers with at least 10 appearances.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Skylar Heinrich, Creighton, Fr., F
Heinrich helped keep the Bluejays in postseason contention with her goal against St. John’s on Sunday. Creighton earned the 1-1 draw to remain in the hunt, while also winning at Seton Hall on Thursday, in which Heinrich registered a shot in the 1-0 victory. Heinrich’s goal in Queens was her 11
th of the season, second-most in the BIG EAST this year and tops among rookies. She ranks fourth nationally among Division I freshmen goal scorers.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Macy Miller, Butler, Sr., F
Two games and two game-winning goals was Miller’s week as the Bulldogs went 2-0 to remain in the hunt of a BIG EAST regular-season title. She scored the decisive goals at Providence on Thursday and against Marquette on Sunday.
Brice McInroy, Villanova, So., M
McInroy scored three goals on the week, two against St. John’s and the game winning goal against Providence to push the Wildcats into the conference tournament for the first time since 2014.
Chloe O’Neill, Villanova, So., F
O’Neill switched to left back this week and netted a goal against St. John’s and dished out the game winning assist at Providence. The sophomore also helped the Wildcats pick up their sixth shutout of the season.
Molly McLaughlin, Xavier, So., F
McLaughlin scored a pair of critical goals in Xavier’s two wins last week. She scored what ended up being the game-winner in Xavier’s 2-1 win at Marquette, finishing a Grace Bahr corner kick at the far post to put Xavier up 2-0. McLaughlin also got the scoring started in the 2-1 win over DePaul, scoring shortly out of the break to give Xavier a 1-0 lead.
Meaghan Nally, Georgetown, Sr., D
Nally led a defensive effort which allowed just one shot on goal last week for Georgetown’s opponents. The Hoyas outshot both DePaul and Seton Hall by a combined 27-4 margin, including 10-1 on target, and held an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks. Sunday against the Pirates, Nally and the Hoyas did not allow a single shot, earning their ninth shutout of the season.
