Butler, Providence pick up first wins; Seton Hall moves to 2-0.

Seton Hall 74, Fairfield 44 
Desiree Elmore registered game highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds as Seton Hall routed Fairfield, 74-44, in historic Walsh Gymnasium on Saturday. Elmore notched 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and made all four of her free-throws.  She also had a career-high 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a strong all-around effort. In all, five Pirates scored in double-figures, Elmore, Barbara Johnson (14 points), Shadeen Samuels (12 points), Alexis Lewis (11 points) and Mya Jackson (10 points).

Butler 74, Wagner 58
Butler's starting five attacked Wagner from the opening tip to grab a commanding lead. Kristen Spolyar scored eight of her team-high 17 points in the first frame to give Butler (1-0) an 18-point advantage. BU would enjoy a 20-point cushion at the half and lead by as many as 28 in the fourth quarter. The group hit seven 3-point field goals and would go 25-for-31 from the charity stripe. The 'Dawgs assisted on 10 of their 21 made field goals and would limit Wagner to just 33.9 percent shooting to find the win column.

Providence 72, UMass 63
The Friars used a 23-point fourth quarter to turn a three-point lead into a nine-point road win as PC won at UMass on Saturday afternoon. Kaela Webb scored a career-high 22 points to lead all scorers, while Mary Baskerville notched her seventh career double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Providence (1-0) shot .431 from the field and .450 from deep. PC head coach Jim Crowley claimed his 300th Division I win.

-/RV James Madison 56, Villanova 52
The Wildcats erased a 14-point deficit to lead by three to start the fourth quarter, but the visiting Dukes held VU without a point for the opening 7:38 of the frame to regain the lead and pull away. Mary Gedaka led Villanova (0-2) with 16 points off 5-of-10 shooting, while Madison Siegrist (14 points) and Bridget Herlihy (10 points) joined Gedaka in double figures. Villanova limited JMU to just .154 shooting from deep, while VU drained eight from long range, including four for Siegrist.

Marquette wraps up a busy opening week with its third game in six days. The Golden Eagles host Illinois State at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, as MU looks to become the first BIG EAST team to go 3-0 this season. Additionally, No. 18/20 DePaul learned its Monday night opponent for the Preseason WNIT Second Round, as the Blue Demons will face Drexel at 8 p.m. The Dragons defeated Davidson 74-63 on Saturday to earn a date with DePaul Monday night.
