Butler 82, Detroit Mercy 60
Senior guard Kristen Spolyar scored a career-high 37 points, most by a BIG EAST player since the 2014-15 season, as Butler cruised by Detroit Mercy on Wednesday night inside Hinkle Fieldhouse. Spolyar made 12 of 23 field goal attempts including four from behind the arc. The Bulldogs used an explosive 28-12 second quarter to create separation from the Titans. Junior Genesis Parker tallied 13 points, four assists and three steals for BU while rookie Oumou Toure came off the bench to chip in 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Butler (2-0) outrebounded Detroit Mercy 47-35 and caused 23 turnovers resulting in 24 points.

Providence 75, Hartford 57
Providence moved to 2-0 on the season with a 75-57 victory at Hartford on Wednesday night. The Friars had three players register double figures in the win highlighted by a career-high 15 points on 7-12 shooting from sophomore Alyssa Geary. Sophomore Mary Baskerville posted a team-high 18 points while classmate Kaela Webb notched 14 points connecting four times from behind the arc. PC shared the ball effectively, dishing out 22 assists on 29 made field goals. The Friars outrebounded the Hawks 41-23.

St. John’s 76, Lafayette 44
Behind a 22-point performance from junior Qadashah Hoppie, St. John’s cruised to a 76-44 victory over Lafayette to improve to 2-0 on the 2019-20 season. Hoppie added three rebounds, three assists and two steals while converting from beyond the arc on five occasions. Alisha Kebbe and Tiana England bolstered the Red Storm offense with 15 and 10 points, respectively, while England tallied a team-high six steals, five rebounds and four assists for the Johnnies. St. John’s forced 20 Lafayette turnovers and scored 20 points off of the Leopards miscues.
