NEW YORK – Seton Hall guard Myles Powell has been chosen BIG EAST Player of the Week and DePaul forward Romeo Weems has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Powell’s week included a 37-point game against Michigan State.  Weems helped the Blue Demons to a pair of wins with all-around contributions.                
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Myles Powell, Seton Hall, G, Sr. – Powell’s two-game scoring average of 31.5 points per game included a 37-point effort in a 76-73 loss to No. 3 Michigan State and a game-high 26 points in an 83-66 victory at Saint Louis.  The senior guard also averaged 6.0 rebounds.  For the season, the Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year ranks second in the BIG EAST in scoring with a 22.5 average.         
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Romeo Weems, DePaul, F, Fr. – Weems averaged 9.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 blocked shots in a 2-0 week.  The 6-7 forward scored nine points each in wins at Iowa (93-78) and against Cornell (75-54).  Had a team-high +/- of 32 against the Big Red.     
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kamar Baldwin, Butler, G, Sr.
Scored 27 points in a win over Minnesota (64-56) and 23 points in a victory against Wofford (80-61).  Had seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks versus Wofford.  Went over the 1,500 career point mark.  
 
Ty-Shon Alexander, Creighton, G, Jr.
Averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 1-1 week.  Had 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in a loss at Michigan (79-69). 
 
Paul Reed, DePaul, F, Jr.  
In a 2-0 week that included a win at Iowa (93-78), averaged 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocked shots and 3.0 steals.  Shot 73.1 percent from the floor (19-26) for the week.                 
 
Omer Yurtseven, Georgetown, C, Jr.
Posted two double-doubles in a 1-1 week.  Averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots.                       
 
Paul Scruggs, Xavier, G, Jr.
Averaged 13.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Scored all 12 of his points in the final 13:07 of regulation and overtime in a 63-58 win versus Missouri.  Made the final basket in a 59-56 victory over Missouri State.
