BIG EAST teams go 4-1 on Friday as -/RV Marquette and Georgetown pick up west coast wins.

-/RV Marquette 77, Saint Mary's (CA) 63 
Selena Lott and Lauren Van Kleunen scored 18 points apiece as Marquette defeated Saint Mary's 77-63 in Game 1 of the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic on Friday. MU shot 46 percent from the floor and held SMC to 38.7 percent for the game. The Golden Eagles led by five points at halftime but broke the game open with a 16-6 run early in the second half before taking a 63-50 lead into the fourth quarter. The Gaels would get no closer than 12 points in the final frame as MU sealed the game by hitting eight of its final 11 shots from the foul line.

Seton Hall 69, Vanderbilt 65 
Alexis Lewis scored a game-high 24 points and Seton Hall rallied from a six-point fourth quarter deficit to edge Vanderbilt, 69-65, in their final game of the 2019 Junkanoo Jam on Friday. The Hall trailed by six points entering the fourth quarter, but outscored the Commodores 21-11 in the final frame to come out on top. Lewis dropped 24 points on 8-for-17 shooting, which included four made three-pointers.  She also grabbed eight rebounds, and collected four steals.  Junior Desiree Elmore tallied 15 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists, while freshman Mya Jackson notched 11 points off the bench.

Georgetown 64, Loyola Marymount 53 
Georgetown used a big performance from beyond the arc to pick up a 64-53 win over the Loyola Marymount Lions Friday evening at the LMU Thanksgiving Classic at Gersten Pavilion.  Four 3-pointers in the third quarter helped improve the Blue & Gray to 2-4 on the season, while the Lions dropped to 2-5 on the year. Brianna Jones led the Blue & Gray with 16 points and six rebounds, while Tayanna Jones finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Taylor Barnes rounded out those in double figures with 11 points in the game.

Creighton 69, Temple 59 
Down 29-20 with 3:38 left in the first half, the Creighton women's basketball team used a 9-0 run to change the dynamic of its 69-59 win over Temple to close out the Cancun Challenge on Friday. The win pushed Creighton to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in Cancun Challenge. Temi Carda led Creighton with 17 points, while Jaylyn Agnew and Olivia Elger closed the game with 15 and 12 points respectively. Freshman Mykel Parham was impressive in the victory with seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Georgia 69, Butler 36  
Georgia led from start to finish on Friday afternoon to notch their fifth win of the season. The Battle of the Bulldogs marked the first game of the 2019 Daytona Beach Invitational. Butler shot the ball poorly, ending the game with just eight made field goals on 46 attempts (17.4). Katherine Strong and Kristen Spolyar led Butler in the scoring column with eight points each. Eight different 'Dawgs scored and all 13 active players would see the court in the lop-sided loss.

Tourney play continues on Saturday with four more games, including the first for St. John’s in Las Vegas. The Red Storm take on IUPUI at 4:30 p.m. ET. Butler tips the day off at 11 a.m. against Ohio in Daytona Beach, while Georgetown and -/RV Marquette continue their play in California against Fresno State (1 p.m.) and Tulsa (3 p.m.), respectively.
