Melanie Moore wins Xavier debut as BIG EAST first-year head coaches go 2-0 on Thursday night.

Xavier 70, Utah 63
A'riana Gray posted her 17th career double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds) on Thursday night, leading Xavier to a 70-63 win over Utah in the team's season opener. The win was the first head coaching victory for new head coach Melanie Moore. Aaliyah Dunham matched her career high in scoring as she posted a game-high 16 points. Xavier held a 44-36 advantage on the glass and scored nine more second-chance points (14-5). Xavier also held a 34-16 advantage in points in the paint. The game featured 11 lead chances and seven ties.

Marquette 92, St. Francis (N.Y.) 71
Four Golden Eagles recorded double digits as Marquette cruised past St. Francis Brooklyn, 92-71 on Thursday evening at the Al McGuire Center. Junior Selena Lott matched her career high with 24 points as she led Marquette (2-0), while sophomore Chloe Marotta had a career night with career high tallies in points (20) and rebounds (12), also her first career double-double. A fourth quarter surge for MU was the difference in the game as St. Francis (0-2) stayed close and pressured the Golden Eagles in the first three frames before Marquette outscored the Terriers, 32-16 in the last quarter.
