In a BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle, Creighton defeated Oklahoma.  Tuesday’s action also included wins for Marquette and Georgetown.  Providence lost a game to Florida at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
 
After Tuesday’s results, BIG EAST teams have a combined record of 83-25 (.769). 
 
In an 83-73 win over Oklahoma, Creighton improved to 9-2 overall and bumped its winning streak up to five games.  Marcus Zegarowski posted 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.  Ty-Shon Alexander added 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.  Transfer Denzel Mahoney made his Bluejay debut and scored 14 points off the bench.
 
Marquette knocked off Grambling State 93-72 in the Golden Eagles’ first game after their exam break.  Markus Howard scored 26 points and grabbed six rebounds.  Making 6-of-10 from 3-point range, it was his 21st career game with six or more 3-pointers.  Sacar Anim added 18 points. 
 
Georgetown made it four wins in a row with an 81-55 victory against UMBC.  Omer Yurtseven had a double-double by halftime and finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds.  He made 11-of-14 from the field.  The Hoyas (8-3) led by 32 in the second half.
Providence was the only unhappy league team on Tuesday.  The Friars (6-6) were victims of cold shooting and lost 83-51 to Florida.  Alpha Diallo produced his fifth double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Nate Watson added 18 points and eight rebounds.
 
FS1 will televise two of the three games on Wednesday’s schedule.  Xavier hosts Western Carolina as part of the Skip Prosser Classic at 6:30 p.m. ET.  The Musketeers (9-2) will try to bounce back from Saturday’s two-point loss at Wake forest.  The FS1 doubleheader continues with Albany visiting St. John’s at Carnesecca Arena at 8:30 p.m.  The Johnnies have won five in a row.
 
DePaul takes to the road to play Cleveland State at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.  The last time the Blue Demons (10-1) had 10 wins before Jan. 1 was the 1999-2000 season.
