Siegrist drops 41 to lead Villanova over La Salle while Georgetown and -/RV Marquette win non-conference finales.

Villanova 77, La Salle 69
Maddy Siegrist turned in the highest scoring performance by a BIG EAST player since 2013, going for 41 points and 10 rebounds as Villanova won at La Salle. Siegrist snapped a 36-year old Villanova rookie scoring record and logged the highest scoring output by a Division I newcomer since 2017-18. It was the fifth-highest scoring outing by any Division I player this season. VU outscored La Salle 21-15 over the final 10 minutes to pull away, improving to 5-5 on the year entering BIG EAST play. The Wildcats have one non-league contest remaining on the calendar with their mid-January meeting with Big 5 foe Penn.

Georgetown 57, UMES 39
Georgetown got back on the winning track with a 57-39 victory over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks Saturday afternoon at the Hychte Athletic Center. The victory was the nonconference finale for the Blue & Gray, which improved to 3-8 on the season. Taylor Barnes led all scorers with 16 points, while freshman Graceann Bennett added 10 points as 11 different Hoyas scored in the game. Georgetown outrebounded The Shore 46-36, and forced 16 Hawk turnovers. The Hoyas shot 35.8 percent (19-53) from the field and allowed the Hawks 23.5 percent (12-51) shooting in the game.

Jordan King and Isabelle Spingola scored 12 points apiece to lead -/RV Marquette over visiting Belmont and close out non-conference play 9-2 with a five-game winning streak. The Golden Eagles, who closed the game on a 7-0 run, scored 30 points in the paint and won the rebounding battle 42-40, forcing 19 turnovers and limiting the Bruins to eight third-quarter points. MU assisted on 18 of its 23 made field goals, with Selena Lott dropping nine dimes on the night.

Junior A'riana Gray posted her second double-double (14 points, 17 rebounds) of the season on Saturday afternoon as Xavier closed non-conference action with a 79-59 loss to Northwestern at the West Palm Beach Invitational. The 17 rebounds matched her season high and are the most rebounds in a game by a BIG EAST player this season. The forward added two assists and one steal. The two-day tournament was hosted by Keiser University at the Student Life Center. The Musketeers dropped to 1-10 on the year, while Northwestern improved to 10-1.

The final contest before BIG EAST play gets underway on Dec. 29 is on Sunday as Butler hosts Purdue Fort Wayne at 2 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs are 7-3 on the year and 6-1 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
