NEW YORK – Xavier forward Naji Marshall has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Marquette forward Joey Hauser has earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors.  Marshall led Xavier to a 2-0 week with impressive all-around contributions and Hauser helped Marquette to a pair of wins that lifted the Golden Eagles into first place.    
         
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Naji Marshall, Xavier, F, So. – Marshall averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a 2-0 week that extended the Musketeers’ winning streak to four games.  He posted a career-high 28 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 70-69 victory at Seton Hall.  The sophomore followed that with a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 66-54 win against Villanova.  Marshall leads the team in scoring with a 14.4 average and usually draws the toughest defensive assignments. 
       
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Joey Hauser, Marquette, F, Fr. – Hauser averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  In a 79-69 win over Butler, the 6-9 forward had 15 points and seven rebounds.  He had eight points in a 76-58 victory at Providence.  For the two games, Hauser shot 50 percent from the field and from 3-point range.  He has won Freshman of the Week honors six times this season.     
                   
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Martin Krampelj, Creighton, F, Jr.
Averaged 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Had 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Georgetown (82-69).  Made 13-of-20 (.650) from the field for the two games.     
          
Jessie Govan, Georgetown, C, Sr.
In a 1-1 week, averaged 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field.  Had 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Villanova (85-73).       
   
Sam Hauser, Marquette, F, Jr.
Averaged 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Had 18 points and 13 rebounds in a win at Providence (76-58).  Shot 55 percent from the field and from 3-point range.     
   
Alpha Diallo, Providence, G, Jr.  
In a 1-1 week, averaged 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.  Posted 16 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over St. John’s (78-59).     
           
Shamorie Ponds, St. John’s, G, Jr.
Scored a game-high 27 points in a victory over Seton Hall (78-70).  Added five assists and five steals.  Averaged 15.5 points in a 1-1 week.
