NEW YORK – Seton Hall guard Myles Powell has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Georgetown guard James Akinjo has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the final week of the regular season.  Powell helped the Pirates to a pair of victories over ranked opponents and Akinjo was the Hoyas’ leader in a 1-1 week.       
        
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Myles Powell, Seton Hall, G, Jr. – Powell powered the Pirates to victories over No. 16 Marquette and No. 23 Villanova and into a tie for third place in the final regular-season standings.  He averaged 27.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals.  The junior started the week with a 34-point effort in a 73-64 win against Marquette and followed that with 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 79-75 victory over regular-season champion Villanova.   
          
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
James Akinjo, Georgetown, G, Fr. – Akinjo posted 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in an 86-84 win at No. 16 Marquette and averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  In the two games, he made 7-of-11 from 3-point range and dealt 12 assists while committing only four turnovers.  For the regular season, Akinjo is averaging 13.3 points and a league-leading 5.4 assists. 

BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kamar Baldwin, Butler, G, Jr.
Averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a 1-1 week.  In a win over Xavier (71-66), he had 24 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Mitch Ballock, Creighton, G, So. 
Tied a BIG EAST record with 11 3-pointers in a game and scored a career-high 39-point effort in a 91-78 victory over DePaul (91-78).  He made 11-of-12 from beyond the arc, which set an NCAA record for 3-point shooting percentage (.917) with at least 12 attempts.  Averaged 23.0 points in a 2-0 week.   
            
Max Strus, DePaul, G, Sr.
In a 1-1 week, averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from 3-point range.  Had 30 points and tied his own school record with nine 3-pointers in a win against Georgetown (101-69).                        
Isaiah Jackson, Providence, G, Sr.
Averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 1-1 week.  Shot 5-of-9 from 3-point range and scored his 1,000th career point.        
 
Paul Scruggs, Xavier, G, So.
Scored a game-high 22 points in a win over St. John’s (81-68).  Averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.
