Butler, Creighton, Providence, Seton Hall pick up wins; Xavier remains unbeaten.
NEW YORK – BIG EAST women’s soccer teams combined for a 4-2-1 mark on a busy Thursday night, with six matches decided by one goal or less and three in extra periods. Seton Hall picked up its first win under head coach Ciara Crinion, Butler, Creighton and Xavier remained unbeaten on the year, and Providence used a golden goal to claim its second victory of the season.
Seton Hall 1, Lafayette 0
Alyssa Reszkowski broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 81st minute as Seton Hall earned their first victory of the season. The win is also the first in the career for new Seton Hall head coach Ciara Crinion. The first half was a relatively close affair with the Pirates (1-1) narrowly out-shooting the Leopards (1-2), 6-to-5. The pace picked up mightily however, in the second half with The Hall putting eight shots on goal, compared to just two by Lafayette. Freshman Harpa Johannsdottir earned her first career shutout in goal, making two saves.

Providence 1, Hartford 0 (OT)
Providence wrapped up its three-game homestand with a 1-0 victory against Hartford on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Elayna Grillakis converted a penalty kick in the first minute of overtime to clinch the win. The Friars (2-1-0) outshot Hartford 16-7 while Shelby Hogan collected the shutout with two saves. Hannah McNulty fired off a game-high five shots.

Butler 2, Northern Kentucky 1
The Norse came out of the locker room at halftime ready to capitalize, as Chloe Mills put Northern Kentucky on the scoreboard in the 47th minute. Finally, after 18 shots, the Bulldogs tied things up when Macy Miller found the back of the net in the 69th minute, with assists from Morgan Kloosterman and Gretchen Skoglund. In the 84th, Miller teamed with Aliya Diagne as the freshman netted her first career goal.

Creighton 1, South Dakota State 0
Jaylin Bosak and Cassie Legband gave Creighton a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute, then a pair of one-on-one saves from goalkeeper Katie Sullivan preserved a 1-0 win for the Bluejay over South Dakota State. The win moved the Bluejays to 2-0-0 on the season, while South Dakota State fell to 2-1-0, giving up its first goal of 2019. Creighton out shot South Dakota State 27-7 in the win, also holding a 3-2 edge in corners.

Xavier 0, Dayton 0 (2OT)
Xavier remained undefeated to start the season, playing Dayton to a 0-0 draw through 110 minutes. Xavier moves to 2-0-1 to open the season. Xavier attacked early, creating several chances in the opening minutes and leading the Flyers, 4-3, on shots in the first half. Dayton would out-shoot Xavier the rest of the way, but were limited to six looks on-frame by the Musketeer defense, with all six collected by goalkeeper Toni Bizzarro for the shut-out, Xavier's first of 2019.

#15 Wisconsin 1, Marquette 0 (OT)
Marquette held No. 15 Wisconsin scoreless through regulation before UW's Lauren Rice posted the match winner in the 93rd minute on Thursday evening at the McClimon Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles (0-3) pushed the game to overtime against the Badgers (2-1) for the first time since 2010 but were out-shot 18-1 overall. Henry posted five saves in the loss and recorded her 300th career stop in the 78th minute, making her the first MU keeper to ever reach the mark.

RV Purdue 3, DePaul 0
The Blue Demons (0-3-0) played a defensively heavy first half, but Purdue (3-0-0) kept up the offensive pressure, firing off five shots on goal in the first. The scoring started rolling for the Boilermakers when Aly Mielke scored off a loose ball in front of the net in the 53rd minute. Leanna Rebimbas increased their lead to 2-0 off a ball from Sydney Duarte in the 66th minute before a free kick taken by Sydney Sparks would sail right into the top left of the net for a 3-0 insurance goal. DePaul goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson netted two saves.
