NEW YORK – Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Both players helped their teams to 2-0 weeks.  Howard has become the BIG EAST’s all-time leader with 12 Player of the Week awards.  Robinson-Earl averaged a double-double for a second straight week while earning Freshman honors.  
  
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Sr. – Howard averaged 38.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while helping the Golden Eagles to wins over Xavier (85-63) and at Georgetown (84-80).  The senior had 35 points against the Musketeers and 42 points versus the Hoyas, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:21 remaining.  Howard leads the nation in scoring with a 28.2 average and owns a 31.7 mark in BIG EAST play.  His 42-point effort at Georgetown lifted him to eighth place on the league’s all-time scoring list in BIG EAST games with 1,260 points.  
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Villanova, F, Fr. – Robinson-Earl takes Freshman of the Week honors for the second straight week and the third time this season.  He averaged 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in the Wildcats’ wins over DePaul (79-75 OT) and Connecticut (61-55).  He had 13 points and 13 boards in the DePaul contest.  For the season, the 6-9 forward is averaging 10.8 points and 9.5 rebounds. 
      
BIG EAST Honor Roll                                                                                            
Ty-Shon Alexander, Creighton, G, Jr.
In a 1-1 week, averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 week.  Had a season-high 24 points, including five straight late points to help beat Providence (78-74). 
 
Paul Reed, DePaul, F, Jr.
Scored 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field and had nine rebounds in a win over Butler (79-66). Had 18 points and 15 boards in a loss at Villanova (79-75 OT).    
  
Omer Yurtseven, Georgetown, C, Sr.
Averaged 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  Posted 20 points and 13 boards in win against Creighton (83-80).  Shot 58.1 percent from the field.
 
David Duke, Providence, G, So.   
Had a career-high 36 points in a loss at Creighton (78-74).  In a 1-1 week, averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists.         
 
Myles Powell, Seton Hall, G, Sr.
In a 2-0 week on the road, scored 29 points at Butler (78-70) and at St. John’s (82-79).  Averaged 6.5 rebounds.  Helped the Pirates rally from halftime deficits of 10 points at Butler and 13 points at St. John’s.  Went over 2,000-point plateau for his career.
