DePaul remains perfect; Butler, Marquette and St. John’s follow; Friars pick up first league win.

Butler 73, Creighton 67  
Butler completed the road sweep and claimed its sixth BIG EAST win with a 73-67 victory at Creighton. The Bulldogs saw three players finish in double figures with Kristen Spolyar leading the way with 25 points while Naira Caceres chipped in 14 behind a perfect 4-for-4 performance from behind the arc. Upe Atosu came off the bench to score 12 points as the Bulldogs shot 48 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range. The squads were knotted at halftime before Butler hit four triples to start the third quarter and create some separation. Tatum Rembao connected from deep on five occasions and tallied 23 points to lead Creighton while rookie Carly Bachelor tallied a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. After the first half of conference action, Butler sits in a three-way tie for second place with Marquette and St. John’s.

Marquette 57, Villanova 52 
Marquette joins the three-way tie for second place in the league standings with a 6-3 BIG EAST mark after a 57-52 win over visiting Villanova. With both teams tied at the end of the third quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored the Wildcats 14-9 in the final period to claim the victory. Isabelle Spingola and Lauren Van Kleunen recorded double-doubles to pace MU. Spingola tallied 10 points and grabbed 11 boards, while Van Kleunen poured in 19 points and collected 11 rebounds. MU found success in the paint, outscoring Villanova 40-22 inside and capitalizing on second chance opportunities with 17 points to the Wildcats’ three. For Villanova, Maddy Siegrist scored 25 points and grabbed six rebounds while Mary Gedaka tallied 16 points and dished out seven assists.

Providence 60, Xavier 48  
Earlette Scott recorded a career-high 20 points to lead three Friars in double-figures as Providence earned this first BIG EAST win of the season with a 60-48 victory over Xavier. After trailing by seven at the break, the Friars outscored the visiting Musketeers 23-9 in the third quarter to gain the advantage heading into the final period.  Alyssa Geary posted 14 points to go with eight rebounds, while Kaela Webb also scored in double figures with 12 points. PC took advantage of second chance opportunities, outscoring Xavier 11-4. A’riana Gray led Xavier with 18 points and eight boards while Lauren Wasylson added 10 points and Sarah Leyendecker matched a game high with 11 rebounds.

11/12 DePaul 92, Georgetown 66  
No. 11/12 DePaul remained unbeaten through the first half of BIG EAST play with a 92-66 victory over visiting Georgetown. The Blue Demons won their 10th game in a row behind six players in double-figures and an early 32-15 advantage after the first period. Lexi Held led the way with 19 points, while Kelly Campbell stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Dee Bekelja came off the bench to add 13 points including a trio of triples as the Blue Demons dialed up 18 three-point field goals. DePaul totaled 24 assists on 33 field goals. Anita Kelava, Brianna Jones and Taylor Barnes scored 10 points apiece to lead Georgetown. The Hoyas shot 38.5 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from long distance.

St. John's 82, Seton Hall 66 
St. John’s picked up its third straight BIG EAST win on Sunday night with an 82-66 triumph over rival Seton Hall. With a 10-point lead at halftime, the Red Storm had five players finish in double figures and withstood a 16-0 run by the Pirates to claim the victory. The Johnnies shot a season-best 62 percent from the floor and picked up their first win at Walsh Gym since 2015-16. Qadashah Hoppie led the way with her eighth 20-point performance of the season while Alissa Alston tallied 15 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists. Seton Hall’s Shadeen Samuels played all 40 minutes of the contest with a game-high 24 points to go with 12 rebounds. Alexis Lewis also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards. The Pirates outrebounded the visiting Johnnies 34-28.
